The Insane Clown Posse

Introduction:

This blog will be dedicated to the group, ICP. It will follow my journey of research as I better understand the Insane Clown Posse and the juggalo way of life.

Rationale for Interest:
I was sitting in English class my senior year in high school watching a documentary on trends when I first heard about the Insane Clown Posse. Their crazy face make-up and dedicated fans immediately caught my interest. They just seemed so angry on stage, yet at the same time, I could see their passion. There was some reason they acted the way they did and said the things they said. The documentary said they started as an underground music scene, and clips from some of their concerts proved they were a scene all their own. Since then I have heard ICP referenced many times, and have even seen "juggalos" for myself. Some of the things that made me interested were their black and white clown make-up, their incredibly explicit lyrics, and their huge following of fans that refer to themselves as juggalos and juggalettes.

Through my research, I hope to see the reason behind their madness. Why are they set on looking and acting different? What does the clown make-up symbolize? Are there any "inside" characteristics for a juggalo or juggalette? Do they have their own language? These are just a few of the questions that were sparked from the documentary clip I viewed a year ago. Hopefully I will get the answers I am looking for and will have a better understanding of the ICP.
