Before I start researching the ICP and their fan base, I would like to discuss questions I want to tackle during the paper. "What is a juggalo?" would probably be a good place to start. Is there an initiation like other gangs or groups? A requirement? I would like to find out the basis of the group. Just by watching juggalos and juggalettes, I've come up with a few visual and verbal cues.
Some things that symbolize juggalos are their make-up, and even their language. I've heard the term "Chicken" along with "Ninja." They greet each other with a "Whoop whoop" noise. I'm sure there are others I will discover as I continue my research. One major sign of a juggalo or juggalette is the black and white make-up. Although not all 'los and 'lettes wear this, the scary clown make-up is a sure sign of Dark Carnival fans. Some like to use profanities such as the F word. But one thing is the same with all 'los and 'lettes, the recognition of family. They see each other as family members and I would like a better understanding of what this means. Another symbol, along with their face paint is the hatchet man: Either a tattoo, or an emblem on clothes.
